To achieve high UPF values, sun protecting clothing is specifically designed with effective textile composition rather than using chemical additives. UV textiles are composed entirely of synthetic fibers such as polyester and nanofibers, which are knitted or woven tightly together and permit far less direct exposure to UVR thanks to the fabrics low porosity.
